Last week, our students had an unforgettable learning experience as part of our Reggio Emilia project. To help us explore the world through curiosity and authentic discovery, we invited a very special guest: Dr. Carlos Alberto Jiménez, a renowned physician, educator, and leadership specialist. His visit was made possible thanks to the thoughtful invitation of one of our third-grade students, Julián.
During his visit, Dr. Jiménez spoke to the students about the importance of studying humans, cultures, and the history of our planet. His talk was engaging and full of surprising facts that helped our students make meaningful connections between the past and the present. He explained how every object—from a simple stone to a fossil—can tell a story if we learn to observe it with curiosity.
One of the most exciting moments came when he showed us actual meteorite fossils, allowing the students to imagine how our universe has changed over millions of years. He also brought coins from different places, helping the children see how cultures develop their own systems of exchange. But the greatest thrill was seeing real shark teeth and learning how these fossils reveal secrets about animals that lived long before humans.
This experience truly embodied the Reggio Emilia philosophy: learning through exploration, hands-on discovery, and meaningful interactions with the world around us. Our students left with wide eyes, new questions, and a deeper appreciation for science and history.

Aprendiendo del Pasado: Una Visita Especial de un Antropólogo
La semana pasada, nuestros estudiantes tuvieron una experiencia de aprendizaje inolvidable como parte de nuestro proyecto Reggio Emilia. Para ayudarnos a explorar el mundo con curiosidad y descubrimiento auténtico, invitamos a un invitado muy especial: el Dr. Carlos Alberto Jiménez, un reconocido médico, educador y especialista en liderazgo. Su visita fue posible gracias a la atenta invitación de uno de nuestros estudiantes de tercer grado, Julián.
Durante su visita, el Dr. Jiménez habló con los estudiantes sobre la importancia de estudiar a los seres humanos, las culturas y la historia de nuestro planeta. Su charla fue muy interesante y estuvo llena de datos sorprendentes que ayudaron a los alumnos a conectar el pasado con el presente. Explicó cómo cada objeto —desde una simple piedra hasta un fósil— puede contarnos una historia si aprendemos a observar con curiosidad.
Uno de los momentos más emocionantes fue cuando mostró auténticos fósiles de meteoritos, lo que permitió a los estudiantes imaginar cómo ha cambiado nuestro universo a lo largo de millones de años. También trajo monedas de diferentes lugares, ayudando a los niños a comprender cómo las culturas desarrollan sus propios sistemas de intercambio. Pero la mayor emoción llegó al ver dientes reales de tiburón y aprender cómo estos fósiles revelan información sobre animales que vivieron mucho antes que los seres humanos.
Esta experiencia reflejó fielmente la filosofía Reggio Emilia: aprender mediante la exploración, el descubrimiento práctico y las interacciones significativas con el mundo que nos rodea. Nuestros estudiantes se fueron con los ojos muy abiertos, nuevas preguntas y una apreciación más profunda por la ciencia y la historia.
