In our Literacy class, we read the book Should I Share My Ice Cream? In this story, Gerald the elephant buys a delicious ice cream cone and is very excited to eat it. However, he starts to wonder if he should share it with his best friend, Piggie. Gerald goes back and forth, debating what the right thing to do is—he really wants the ice cream, but he also wants to be a good friend.
Just as Gerald finally decides to share, his ice cream melts! He feels sad—until Piggie shows up with her ice cream and happily shares it with him. The story teaches children about kindness, friendship, and the joy of sharing, even when things don’t go as planned.
I prepared activities for my kids to start comprehending the concept of sharing. They had to share ice cream scoops with the kids who didn’t have any. Children had to ask Miss Carlie to be kind and share her ice cream with them while reading the story. We also went to the Light Lab to make our ice cream with different materials.
In the last activity, it was a role-play moment; kids sold ice cream in the Ice Cream Shop, where they prepared, served, and tasted delicious ice cream. We had this activity in the playroom, where kids experienced different situations where, at some point, they had to share the materials. It was a challenge for them, but in the end, they did it!

Storytime: ¿Debería compartir mi helado?
En nuestra clase de Literacy, leímos el libro “Should I Share My Ice Cream?». En esta historia, Gerald, el elefante, compra un delicioso cono de helado y está muy emocionado por comérselo. Sin embargo, empieza a preguntarse si debería compartirlo con su mejor amiga, Piggie. Gerald duda sobre qué es lo correcto: quiere el helado, pero también quiere ser un buen amigo. Justo cuando Gerald finalmente decide compartirlo, ¡su helado se derrite! Se siente triste, hasta que Piggie aparece con su helado y lo comparte con él. La historia enseña a los niños sobre la amabilidad, la amistad y la alegría de compartir, incluso cuando las cosas no salen según lo planeado.
Preparé actividades para que los alumnos empezaran a comprender el concepto de compartir. Tuvieron que compartir bolas de helado con los niños que no tenían. Los niños tuvieron que pedirme que fuera amable y compartiera su helado con ellos mientras les leía la historia. También fuimos al Light Lab para hacer nuestro helado con diferentes materiales.
La última actividad, se trató de un juego de roles: los niños vendieron helados en la heladería, donde prepararon, sirvieron y degustaron deliciosos helados. Fuimos al playroom para realizar actividad, donde los niños experimentaron diferentes situaciones en las que, en algún momento, tuvieron que compartir los materiales para seguir jugando. Fue un reto para ellos, ¡pero al final lo lograron!
