In this activity the students put into practice one-to-one counting, stable order and cardinality which has a reaction with the principles of counting that the students have to have consolidated to be able to have notion of numbers. The notion of number in preschool is fundamental because it lays the foundations for logical-mathematical thinking. It’s not just about learning to count, but understanding what numbers mean and how they relate to the world.
Some important reasons related to the notion of number are:
- Development of logical thinking
- Basis for future mathematical skills
- Connection to everyday life
- Stimulates memory and attention
- Promotes self-reliance
In this sense, the activity of today developed as follows: as a first activity, the students drew in mural format the number 6. Each of the students traced this number. As a next activity, the students had to follow the trace of number 6 in their book in a smaller format and make the count of the grapes that were drawn in the book. To finish the consolidation of number 6, each of the students had a number 6 in a red sheet which simulated the body of a ladybug and they had to put the dots according to the number they were practicing, in order that each one will perform the count and relate the number with a specific animal, in this case, the ladybug. All students were able to relate the count correctly while creating their ladybug.
Contar para comprender matemáticas
En esta actividad, los alumnos pusieron en práctica el conteo uno a uno, el orden estable y la cardinalidad, la cual tiene relación con los principios de conteo que los alumnos deben tener consolidados para tener noción de los números. La noción del número en preescolar es fundamental porque sienta las bases para el pensamiento lógico-matemático. No se trata solo de aprender a contar, sino de comprender lo que significan los números y cómo se relacionan con el mundo.
Algunas razones importantes relacionadas con la noción de número son:
- Desarrollo del pensamiento lógico
- Base para futuras habilidades matemáticas
- Conexión con la vida cotidiana
- Estimula la memoria y la atención
- Fomenta la autonomía
Como primera actividad, los alumnos trazaron en formato mural el número 6. Cada uno de los alumnos pasó a seguir el trazo de dicho número. Como siguiente actividad, los alumnos tuvieron que seguir el trazo del número 6 en su libro en un formato más pequeño y realizar el conteo de las uvas que estaban dibujadas en el libro. Para finalizar nuestra consolidación del número 6, cada uno de los alumnos tenía un número 6 en una hoja color rojo, la cual simulaba el cuerpo de una catarina, y ellos tenían que ponerle los puntos de acuerdo al número que estamos viendo, con la finalidad de que cada uno realizara el conteo y formara una relación del número con un animal. Todos los alumnos lograron realizar el conteo de forma correcta y al mismo tiempo hicieron su catarina.
