Learning is more than just reading and writing; it is also about discovering who one is, knowing what one likes, and knowing one’s abilities. As part of our new project, kids have been learning about their bodies and how they work.
Learning about their bodies improves coordination, supports their ability to move confidently, and even helps them focus their attention.
Teaching these kinds of topics through art makes it easier for them to learn. During this activity, each student worked with a partner to carefully observe their classmate. They looked closely at the shape of their head, the position of their eyes, their smile, and all the details.
After observing, they created a portrait of their partner. Then, kids brought their drawings to life by using paint. This activity wasn’t just about art; it was also about learning to observe, understand, and appreciate each other.
During this activity, they not only learned the body parts, but they also learned that every person is different and special. They learned how to appreciate details, develop skills like attention and empathy, and express themselves through art.
For preschoolers, learning values like empathy and respect is important because it is something they will practice all their lives.

Para los niños, aprender es más que solo leer y escribir; también es descubrir quiénes son, saber qué les gusta y que conozcan sus habilidades. Como parte de nuestro nuevo proyecto, han estado aprendiendo sobre sus cuerpos y cómo funcionan, lo cual mejora la coordinación, apoya su capacidad para moverse con confianza e incluso para enfocar su atención.
Enseñar este tipo de temas a través del arte es fácil de aprender para ellos, por lo que durante esta actividad cada estudiante trabajó con un compañero. Observaron de cerca la forma de su cabeza, la posición de sus ojos, su sonrisa y todos los detalles.
Después, crearon un retrato de su pareja; los niños dieron vida a sus dibujos mediante el uso de pintura. Esta actividad no se trataba solo de arte, sino de aprender a observarse, entenderse y apreciarse mutuamente.
Durante esta actividad no solo aprendieron las partes del cuerpo, sino que cada persona es diferente y especial. Comprendieron cómo apreciar los detalles y desarrollaron habilidades como la atención, la empatía y cómo expresarse a través del arte.
Para los niños en edad preescolar, aprender valores como la empatía y el respeto a las diferencias es importante ya que es algo que practicarán durante toda su vida.
