This project was born naturally during our outdoor moments. As we went out to the playground, our Nursery children began to notice leaves gently falling from the trees. With great curiosity, they collected, touched, and explored them, observing their colors, sizes, and textures.
Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, we followed their genuine interest to extend the experience. Through sensory play and exploration, the children manipulated dry and fresh leaves, listened to the sound of the wind, and discovered tiny insects and soft buzzing around them.
Through artistic activities using paint, natural materials, and sensory invitations, the children expressed their discoveries using their “hundred languages”: movement, art, observation, and wonder. More than learning about leaves and insects, they strengthened their curiosity, observation skills, and connection with nature.
Among Leaves, Wings, and Buzzing
Este proyecto nació de manera natural durante nuestros momentos al aire libre. Al salir al patio, los niños de Maternal comenzaron a notar cómo las hojas caían suavemente de los árboles. Con gran curiosidad, las recogieron, tocaron y exploraron, observando sus colores, tamaños y texturas.
Siguiendo la inspiración de nuestra filosofía Reggio Emilia, partimos de su interés genuino para ampliar la experiencia. A través del juego y la exploración sensorial, los niños manipularon hojas secas y frescas, escucharon los sonidos del viento y descubrieron pequeños insectos y el suave “zumbido” a su alrededor.
Mediante actividades artísticas con pintura, materiales naturales y propuestas sensoriales, los pequeños expresaron sus descubrimientos usando sus “cien lenguajes”: el movimiento, el arte, la observación y el asombro. Más que aprender sobre hojas e insectos, fortalecieron su curiosidad, su capacidad de observación y su conexión con la naturaleza.
