This time, our third grade students became young paleontologists! As part of our science unit on fossils, the students learned how fossils are formed and why they are important to understanding Earth’s history.
To make the learning even more fun, each student created their own fossil using white modeling clay (plasticine) and everyday objects like shells, leaves, and small animal toys. After pressing the objects into the clay to make impressions, they covered them with white glue to give them a fossil-like look.
The classroom turned into a fossil lab as students worked carefully, explored textures, and shared their creations with excitement. They were amazed to see how the shapes and details stayed behind in the clay, just like real fossils that scientists find in rocks.
It was a hands-on and exciting way to explore science. Most of all, students had fun while learning, and their creativity and curiosity made the project a great success!

¡Diversión con fósiles en tercer grado!
¡En esta ocasión, nuestros estudiantes de tercer grado se convirtieron en jóvenes paleontólogos! Como parte de nuestra unidad de ciencias sobre los fósiles, los alumnos aprendieron cómo se forman los fósiles y por qué son importantes para entender la historia de la Tierra.
Para hacer el aprendizaje aún más divertido, cada estudiante creó su propio fósil usando plastilina blanca y objetos cotidianos como conchas, hojas y pequeños juguetes de animales. Después de presionar los objetos en la plastilina para hacer impresiones, los cubrieron con pegamento blanco para darles una apariencia de fósil real.
El salón de clases se transformó en un laboratorio de fósiles mientras los estudiantes trabajaban con cuidado, exploraban texturas y compartían sus creaciones con entusiasmo. Se sorprendieron al ver cómo las formas y detalles quedaban marcados en la plastilina, igual que los fósiles reales que los científicos encuentran en las rocas.
Fue una experiencia práctica y emocionante para explorar la ciencia. Sobre todo, los estudiantes se divirtieron mientras aprendían, y su creatividad y curiosidad hicieron que el proyecto fuera un gran éxito.
