This week, our Kinder 3 students enjoyed a hands-on learning experience through a fun story: René the Frog and his craving for a fly. Using the number line as their stage, the children became frogs and flies, enthusiastically jumping from number to number, exploring quantities and positions, and taking their first steps into addition.
The activity not only strengthened number recognition but also encouraged symbolic play and teamwork, incorporating body movement as a key learning tool. As Jean Piaget once said: «Play is the work of childhood.»
In our Coding class, we brought the story into the digital world with Dash, our robot friend, who helped represent René’s jumps along the number line. The children were thrilled to see their learning come to life through technology!
It was a day when body, mind, and imagination came together. Learning through play continues to be our favorite way to grow!
¡Saltos, números y mucha diversión con la rana René!
Esta semana, nuestros alumnos de Kinder 3 vivieron una experiencia llena de aprendizaje y movimiento a través de una divertida historia: La rana René y su gran antojo de mosca. Usando la recta numérica como escenario, los niños se convirtieron en ranas y moscas, y con mucho entusiasmo saltaron de número en número, explorando cantidades, posiciones y los primeros pasos hacia la suma.
La actividad no solo fortaleció el reconocimiento numérico, sino que también promovió el juego simbólico y el trabajo colaborativo, incorporando el movimiento corporal como una herramienta clave para el aprendizaje. Como decía Jean Piaget: «El juego es el trabajo del niño».
Además, en nuestra clase de Coding, llevamos la historia al mundo digital con Dash, nuestro robot, quien ayudó a representar los saltos de la rana René en la recta numérica. ¡Los niños estaban fascinados viendo cómo su aprendizaje cobraba vida con la tecnología!
Fue una jornada donde el cuerpo, la mente y la imaginación trabajaron juntos. ¡Seguimos aprendiendo jugando!
