Spring is here, the Easter holiday is near and so is Earth Day on April 22nd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Villa High our bulletin boards have been designed to teach our students of Mexico\u2019s rich biodiversity, 4 of our endemic endangered species and the negative impact of plastic on our everyday-use and how it damages our oceans and environment in general. Plus the importance of Earth Day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Visual Arts Workshop, students from all three grades have worked for the past 6 weeks on a very important project: MEXICO\u2019S ENDANGERED WILDLIFE. Teacher Robert Borges chose 4 highly endangered species for this art project: The Axolotl, The Mexican Gray Wolf, The Teporingo and The Vaquita Marina; animals all endemic to Mexico.
All 75 students from the workshop followed teacher Robert\u2019s instructions step by step to create a \u201csurreal\u201d masterpiece which included all 4 animals. The project also included each animal\u2019s habitat and how us humans contribute to its damage and possible extinction. Teacher Robert gave his students general information about each animal and explained the different techniques used in the project: watercolor, pointillism with markers and charcoal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For this project, students were allowed to use these techniques more freely in order to give students the opportunity to give it their own personal touch. All projects participated in a contest and art exhibit which took place on Wednesday March 18 during our school\u2019s \u201cSemana Cultural\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winners of the art contest were chosen by miss Emma Ochoa and awarded a diploma and points for their House during the ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
