According to an article on ScienceDirect, a platform for scientific, technical, and health literature, influencers are considered role models on topics such as fashion, lifestyle, and travel. They communicate with consumers, develop closer bonds with followers, and foster more trusting and credible relationships on platforms like Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our students are no strangers to these platforms or to influencers. While we don’t know what the future holds, it’s not unreasonable to think that one day, one of our students might become an influencer or a media personality. To encourage public speaking practice in the classroom, we have implemented various activities to help boost their confidence and fluency, and to overcome public speaking anxiety. Who knows, perhaps one day we’ll have the next media star among them!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some of the activities included: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Telling a personal story in a short video.<\/li>
  2. Researching the Suffragists in the USA, providing historical information and their personal opinions on the topic.<\/li>
  3. A \u00abtell me a joke\u00bb video.<\/li>
  4. Interviewing a classmate using various topics and questions, and asking for opinions on trending subjects.<\/li>
  5. \u00abOur Voices, Our Stories,\u00bb the final project for our students, is a podcast where they can talk about their favorite topics.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n\n\n
