In Villa High we promote equality, respect and diversity through different activities in different subjects. On the 8th of March we celebrated International Women\u2019s Day  and we continued celebrating during the whole month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Visual Arts workshop, students worked on a very ambitious project. Teacher Robert chose 6 different famous masterpieces from different centuries and from different countries in which women are the main character: \u201cThe Mona Lisa\u201d by Leonardo da Vinci, \u201cThe Girl with a Pearl Earring\u201d by Johannes Vermeer, \u201cSelf Portrait\u201d by Frida Kahlo, \u201cLa Calavera Garbancera\u201d by Jose Guadalupe Posada, \u201cMarilyn Monroe\u201d by Andy Warhol and \u201cGuernica\u201d by Pablo Picasso.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students divided their paper in a grid and took a specific area and important feature from each painting so they could blend together to form one woman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Teacher Borges explained the story and mysteries behind each painting and suggested some art techniques, but did allow daring students to experiment with other techniques of their choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All three-grade-students worked on this project and submitted it to a contest in which winners would add points to their house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 9 winners were chosen by the artistic eye of Miss Emma and Miss Paola who work in Villa Educativa and Happy\u2019s Ateliers. Last Monday the winners were announced during recess and all projects were on display.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
